Welcome to the revamped version of The Japan Times app, powered by a new system that ensures you receive the latest news stories as they emerge and develop.
As with the previous version, you can enable notifications for breaking news and featured stories.
You will be able to bookmark stories, but unfortunately, we are unable to transfer your archived bookmarks to the new system.
Paid subscribers can access audio versions of stories and have the ability to comment.

- Awesome app User friendly interface on the app. In addition, it's definitely practical to learn English even if you are still beginner learner. If I have to say something about the app, I'd say more variety of news topics are preferable to give five-star rating.
- Widget Function I love this app since it offers Japanese news in English?which many news apps do not offer. However, it is such a shame that it doesn’t have a widget function! Having a widget function will allow me to read news articles easily, without having to click the app every single time! News, especially, is an extremely important information that everyone would want to read daily, so could you PLEASE ADD the widget function to this app? Thank you so much :))
- Japan Times and using the app I don’t seem to know how to access past copies. At 89, navigation is somewhat difficult.
As a resident of Japan for 70 years, I’ve always enjoyed flipping the pages, reading the editorials, and scanning the “Want Ads.”
