- Don't expect too much. The graphics and sound are nice enough. And the action does get pretty intense.
I couldn't get used to the basic controls however. A D-pad on a touch screen is not my thing at all, and two is incredibly unnerving. Thankfully there is a tilt control and auto-targeting setting (erroneously named "AI") making the thing actually playable.
Now for the game's major shortcomings:
1) There is not near enough variety of enemy. They are all roughly the same size, shape, speed, and color. This combined with them all pretty much simply trying to close the distance with your character creates for a repetitive grind of a game.
2) The environments also contain little in the way of variety. They are all rectangular shaped arenas of the same dimensions with no walls, rocks, wreckage, etc to move and shoot around or funnel enemies through. There are no objectives in each mission other than to shoot anything else that is moving.
3) The weapons (dropped by the enemies strangely enough) are not even close to equally made. The pistol, for example, is never, ever the right weapon for the job. This problem is compounded by the the facts that the weapons are not easily distinguished from one another, and if your character wanders too close, he automatically picks it up and loses his previously held one. Thus AVOIDING weapon pick-ups becomes the main challenge/task on each level.
With all that the game is not, I surprised myself by pushing through to its end. There was little of interest there as well.
