Choices is from the team that has been bringing you narrative games for over a decade. We created the top 25 hit games, Surviving High School and Cause of Death, the first episodic games, for EA. After leaving EA, our team regrouped as Pixelberry in a small office, set out to continue creating story driven games with heart and launched the two interactive hit games, High School Story and Hollywood U.

- It’s a lot better than Episode Really, I don’t understand why this has only 3.9 stars currently. This deserves a 100.0 star. You can play as a man here and be with women. Even though the guys the keep coming onto you is annoying. But the fact that a guy can play this now too is like a wish granted.
- Disappointing Downgrade in Quality I think there’s a mistake in the name of this app - it’s not Choices, it’s (Must Accept Being Sexually Harassed by Your Creepy Boss Because of a Lack of) Choices.
Pixelberry is a great developer and this app used to be fantastic, featuring stories in a wide range of genres with intriguing casts full of a variety of unique personalities. Now, they are churning out crappy dollar-store romance (Baby Bump) after crappy dollar-store romance (Witness) after crappy dollar-store romance (The Nanny Affair), while all the interesting stories (Nightbound, The Royal Masquerade, Distant Shores, and more) are rushed into endings that don’t make sense to clear the way for even more crappy romances (My Two First Loves).
Instead of having a choice in your character’s gender, you are locked into playing a female character - all the better to have a creepy older man romance with! Instead of choosing your love interest from a group of well-defined characters, you’re only allowed one (with barely any personality) and you can’t choosr not to accept their advances, no matter how ill the unequal power dynamics make you feel. Also, if you’re playing as a woman in love with a woman, your love interest will still essentially be written as a man (occasionally with male pronouns), because gay people don’t matter, right, Pixelberry??
Do not download this app if you:
- like well-written stories
- want your choices in an interactive story to actually affect the story
- want to be able to say no when your creepy boss or professor hits on you
I will happily retract this review if Pixelberry starts making good stories again, as this app really was great once upon a time. But now, it’s nothing but the same poorly-written Episode-ripoff nonsense you can get from literally every other interactive story app.
- Just buying diamonds? At first it was a fun game, but eventually it got boring as you had to buy diamonds to choose the best answers. You don’t succeed with choosing the best options, but with the most diamonds. Maybe the developer should just change the name of the game or let people earn more diamonds by watching ads or something?
