Surprisingly limited I’m a fan of Adventure Time, enjoy tower defense games, and have purchased a Bloons game previously, so I figured I’d like this one. Yet it is strangely hard to get into. It seems to contain relatively little content (e.g. maps, challenges, events) for a game that’s been around as long as it has; and a fair amount of the content is locked behind paywalls, which seems a bit odd for a game that would presumably appeal to children. The game also forces the player to watch ads occasionally, which strikes me as a practice adopted by publishers who aren’t confident in their product. Optional ads with good rewards (which this game also has) would seem a better fit for this product.
On the upside, this game has some nice graphics and voice acting with an authentic Adventure Time sensibility. And it does a good job of making the Bloons monkeys feel like they belong in Ooo. It’s a shame these qualities are somewhat overshadowed by a persistent sense that the game is trying to stick its paws in my wallet…
