Student discount I love grinder a lot, but sadly the functions are getting more and more limited for free users 😭😭😭 I can’t afford the expensive plan because I’m a student. I hope there would be a student discount system for premium plan! I would love to Jon that if so!! 😭😭😭😭
Expensive AND Awful?! How is it possible for this app to be so popular when it combines the worst of both worlds?
Compare it with the predominant gay app in Japan, 9 Monsters. On 9Mon, you can see anyone who has viewed your profile (maybe ever). For free. On Grindr? Paid. On 9Mon, you can use any of a myriad of filters when searching. For free? On Grindr? Paid. On 9Mon, you can see anyone’s album that has been shared with you. For free. On Grindr? Paid. I could go on, but you get the picture.
What’s worse is that not only are all of Grindr’s useful features locked behind a paywall, it is still crippled by intrusive, long, annoying ads. They pop up at anytime, in the middle of random actions, which is incredibly frustrating. Sometimes an ad could take *30 seconds*. Compare again with 9Mon. Each time you open the app, there is a photo ad shown. It holds on this screen for just 2 seconds, and then you can use the app as long as you’d like and will never see another ad unless you close it.
You thought that was all? No, for an app which seems to be raking in cash as much as Grindr does, it doesn’t even function properly! Facebook authentication was broken for a month. Chats are constantly disappearing, bugging, or otherwise inconveniencing you. Now there’s a problems where albums aren’t visible, or my bio is only showing the first 20 characters or so. This kind of low-quality experience is the standard for Grindr.
I doubt any developer has read this far, but just so you know, a 255 character limit is absolutely inane on a dating app. Triple the text limit, we’re not all just here for hookups, and even if we are some of us have standards.
